FREE INDUSTRIAL RELOCATION GUIDE AVAILABLE
The Midwest Industrial Relocation Association (MIRA) has published an Industrial Relocation Guide, designed to help industrial companies through the relocating process. The guide walks readers through the process of relocation, and includes a sample timeline, a budget worksheet, and a list of recommended vendors and contractors.

"We wanted to make this process a lot easier," says Tom McGuire, president of Des Plaines-based MIRA. "Nobody moves for fun, and anyone who has been involved in industrial relocation has horror stories about companies that got bogged down in a move. Often companies lose production efficiency and many lose customers. Occasionally, a company will even go out of business because of a botched move."

To help minimize the risks of an industrial relocation, MIRA brought together a group of experts in a variety of relocation areas. The advisory group has more than 200 years of combined experience in relocation, and yet when MIRA began planning the guide, it discovered that no one individual understood the whole process.

By combining the expertise from many different areas, the association was able to create a guide that can help companies avoid the many pitfalls of a move. One of the simplest and most useful parts of the guide is an extensive checklist of items to consider when planning a relocation. Reviewing that list can prompt a company to remember a detail that might have been overlooked. The guide includes an overview of the relocation process, a sample timeline and a list of recommended vendors and contractors.
